This variable identifies an individual line number on an encounter record claim, as assigned in the CMS Integrated Data Repository (IDR).

Comments

This field is included for the benefit of CMS users who wish to trace the encounter records in the IDR.

Note that this original claim line number may differ from the claim line number (CLM_LINE_NUM), which is a sequential line number on the CCW Encounter RIF to distinguish distinct services that are submitted on the same encounter record.
