Additional information regarding these categories can be found on the CDC website (see https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/Part9InstructionManual2011.pdf). Available for 1999-2016. Note that this field is not populated for a large proportion of 2008 records due to source data issues.

Researchers wishing to obtain this NDI segment of the MBSF must obtain an additional approval beyond the CMS DUA.
