Nathan D. Shippee, PhD, is a sociologist and health care researcher whose work focuses on chronic disease, health care delivery and payment models, mental and behavioral health, and the complex needs of underserved and marginalized populations. His published works include key contributions to patient-centered care and research as well as patient and health system complexity. Dr. Shippee’s research and training activities have been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, state and county agencies, and multiple health systems and other foundations. Dr. Shippee has extensive experience with Medicaid and Medicare data, as evidenced by publications, federal and state reports, and other outputs, as well as training and experience in multiple and mixed research methods. In addition to serving as PI and Director of ResDAC, Dr. Shippee is the Co-Director of the Research Education Core of the Minnesota Learning Health Systems (MN-LHS) career development and research training program.
