This variable is the total count of the Medicare Part D Events (PDEs) for the beneficiary during the year.

Comments

Note that all PDEs are included, whether the beneficiary was enrolled in a stand-alone prescription drug plan (PDP) or a Medicare Advantage (managed care) plan.

The corresponding payment information for PDEs is in the MDCR_PTD_TOTAL_SPEND variable.
