This variable is the total prescription drug cost amount from all Medicare Part D Events (PDEs) for the beneficiary during the year.

Comments

CCW calculates this variable as the sum of all TOT_RX_CST_AMT from the PDE records. Note that all PDEs are included, whether the beneficiary was enrolled in a stand-alone prescription drug plan (PDP) or a Medicare Advantage (managed care) plan.
