This variable is the number of months during the year when the beneficiary had some type of Medicaid managed care coverage, however it was not comprehensive medical managed care coverage.

Comments

CCW calculates this variable using the DE file. We consider the beneficiary to have some other type of Managed Care coverage during the month If the beneficiary had Medicaid or CHIP enrollment for the month, and the monthly managed care plan type code was populated and not for a comprehensive managed care plan or a health insuring organization (i.e., we counted only the months where MC_PLAN_TYPE_CD_MM not in ('01' '04')). Note that the number of comprehensive medical managed care months is captured in MMLEADS in MDCD_MC_MEDICAL_MOS.

Values: 0-12, or null/missing (if no Medicaid enrollment)
