This field identifies the reduction in payment amount from the IPPS payment for hospitals that rank in the lowest-performing quartile of selected Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC).

This field is derived by accumulating the HAC Reduction Payment Amount (HAC-RDCTN_PMT_AMT; in 2014 it was referred to as the IPPS_FLEX_PYMT_6_AMT) that is present on any of the claim records included in the stay (i.e. the sum of the claim HAC reduction payment amounts reported on the claims that comprise the stay).
This field is new in October 2014. This field only applies to Inpatient/SNF claims.
