This field is an indicator that there is reduction in payment amount from the IPPS payment for hospitals that rank in the lowest-performing quartile of selected Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC).

This field identifies hospitals subject to a Hospital Acquired Condition (HAC) reduction of what they would otherwise be paid under IPPS.
The dollar amount of the reduction is in the HAC Reduction Payment Amount field (HAC_RDCTN_PMT_AMT; in 2014 it was referred to as the IPPS_FLEX_PYMT_6_AMT).
This field is new in October 2014. It is not populated (through 2018). This field only applies to Inpatient/SNF claims.
